The City Clerk’s office is responsible for a multitude of duties that keep the city running properly and serve the needs of the citizens of Louisville and the employees of the city. This office is the “front desk” for the city along with being the finance department and the human resource department. The annual budget and tax levy is approved each year before September 15. The city collects taxes for Louisville Municipal School District, and receipts and distributes those taxes according to the inter-local agreements and state law. The City Clerk’s staff is responsible for collecting the revenue of the city by collecting and receipting police fines in the Municipal Court Office, collecting taxes and landfill payments, and issuing business privilege licenses in the City Clerk’s Office.
The City of Louisville employs sixty full time and twenty part time employees and has an annual gross payroll of approximately $2,090,000.00. Employees are categorized in departments: General Government, Police, Court, E911, Fire, Code Enforcement, Animal Control, Street, Solid Waste, and Landfill. Employee personnel files are permanent records which must be maintained in this office.
The City Clerk is responsible for recording the Minutes of the Board of Aldermen meetings, documenting Ordinances, and for keeping accurate and efficient records for grants and other city projects.
The City owns and maintains four cemeteries: Memorial Park Cemetery, Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Louisville Masonic Cemetery, and the Old Baptist Cemetery. The City Clerk’s Office issues cemetery permits and sells cemetery plots and cemetery markers as well.

The City Clerk’s office at the City of Louisville is open to serve you! Our courteous staff includes City Clerk Wanda Hudson , and Assistant City Clerk, Kay Crowson. Wanda Hudson began working at City Hall as Assistant City Clerk and Bookkeeper on May 2012 and is now the City Clerk . Wanda is married to Kevin Hudson and is mom to Max and Belle. Wanda is a graduate of Ackerman High School and Mississippi State University. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoys her kids, scrapbooking, reading and the beach.
Kay Crowson began working at City Hall as Assistant City Clerk in 2013. She is married to David Crowson and they have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Kay is an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church and a member of the Town and Country Garden Club.
