    The Louisville Building Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety, functionality, and sustainability of structures within our community. our mission is to provide exceptional service while enforcing building codes and regulations to promote safe construction practices and protect the health and welfare of residents and visitors.

    We are responsible for a variety of essential services, including:

License Requirements
Mississippi State licensed contractors carrying an approved license from the Mississippi State Board of Contractors shall not be required to obtain a City of Louisville privilege. 

All residential, commercial, industrial, educational and places of worship contracted work over fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) shall have a State of Mississippi Board of Contractors license. Except for one and two family dwelling work all others over ten thousand dollars ($10,000) shall provide a Material Purchase Certificate from the Mississippi State Tax Association.

All HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work of any dollar amount shall be performed by a Mississippi State Board of Contractors licensed contractor per State law.

PERMIT FEES
​Sec. 2.2 Fees
(a) Base Fees
  1. $25.00 base fee.
  2. $50.00 base fee if work starts before obtaining a permit.
(b) Permit Fees
Permit Fee = Base Fee + Amount Based on Building Value
  1. Up to $50,000: $5.00 per $1,000 or part thereof.
  2. $50,001 to $100,000: $250.00 for the first $50,000, plus $4.00 per additional $1,000 or part thereof.
  3. $100,001 to $500,000: $450.00 for the first $100,000, plus $3.00 per additional $1,000 or part thereof.
  4. Above $500,000: $1,650.00 for the first $500,000, plus $2.00 per additional $1,000 or part thereof.
(c) Reinspection Fee
  1. $25.00 per reinspection.
